STEWARTON DRAMA GROUP

Acting up for 50 years!

It all started in 1973 when group of friends who shared an interest in drama got together in Stewarton. After a few meetings and formalities, Stewarton Drama Group was formed.

Since then, SDG has gone from strength to strength, performing a variety of plays and pantomimes for local audiences.

Throughout almost 50 years, SDG has also been a member of the Scottish Community Drama Association,

participating in their Festivals and gathering some trophies along the way. A highlight was in 2008 when SDG won the British Final of the UK wide One-Act Play Festival, with a production of Linda McLean’s play, ‘One Good Beating’.

However, most important of all, for present and past members alike, are the many friendships we’ve made over the years across Scotland and the fun we’ve had being part of the wonderful world of community drama.
