FAQ

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE?

Membership is open to all adults over 18 in the area who have an interest in drama. Only members can audition for and be cast in a play.  However, sometimes we have open auditions and we often attract new members in this way. Non-members and supporters of the Group sometimes help out at our events, for example front-of-house.

HOW OFTEN DOES STEWARTON DRAMA GROUP MEET?

We usually meet once a week, on Wednesdays throughout the season which runs from August until June. When we're rehearsing for a production, we often have extra rehearsals nights over a set period of about six weeks - but this is by arrangement with the cast and everyone will know the commitment beforehand.

HOW DO I JOIN A MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME?

Contact us through the Contact section on this site and we'll get in touch to let you know when our Group is next meeting. We will arrange a time for you to come along, meet members, find out what we do and see round our rehearsal area. You'll be able to have a cup of coffee and chat to the members.  You don't need to make up your mind if you want to join right away - so, it's all very informal and welcoming.

DO I NEED TO HAVE EXPERIENCE BEFORE I CAN JOIN?

No, you don't need to have any experience. You can learn and build confidence as you go along. Whether it's acting, backstage or technical work, there is always someone to help you find your feet. Community drama is very much a team effort and you soon realise that everyone's contribution is equally important - the props have to be in the right place, the sound has to be on cue, the lights have to work, the prompt has to be on the alert - you get the idea!
