OUR ACTIVITIES

Here's what we do........

We are a group of people of different ages and backgrounds, all of us committed to bringing drama and theatre arts to our local community. Our interests and skills range from acting, directing, set building, scenery painting, costumes, sound, lighting to just generally helping out. There’s always lots to do to bring a production to the stage!

OUR SPACE

We meet up every week in our own premises where we have a rehearsal space, a stage, a small lounge and a kitchen - perfect for meetings, rehearsals and small scale productions. With a capacity for 40-50 audience members, comfortably seated in cafe-style, we enjoy some really friendly evenings and afternoons here. For larger scale productions, we go to the 200-seater Area Centre in Stewarton which has a much bigger stage and opens up different opportunities.

OUR PRODUCTIONS

We try to do three or four productions throughout our season, which runs from August until June. We include one-act plays, full-length plays and pantomimes. We also like to enter the Scottish Community Drama Association Festivals, and this has taken us all over Scotland, with past appearances at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, the Eden Court Theatre in Inverness, Lochside Theatre in Castle Douglas and the Ryan Centre in Stranraer. As well as all that, we love to do informal productions of short sketches!

OUR MANAGEMENT

Easy year, we elect a Committee made up of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and five Committee Members.  This Committee meets once a month to manage the Group's programme and to uphold the Group's constitution. We have casting rules which are in place to ensure that everyone has a fair chance when productions are being cast. Stewarton Drama Group is a Registered Charity and, as such, we submit annual reports to OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Register).
